For twenty years, Duane and Deborah, owners of Highspire Hills Farm, have been producing high-quality jumbo, large and extra-large brown eggs from the best layers around, the Golden Comet chickens.
“It all began as a hobby for Duane, who bought the farm years and years ago with only 50 chickens,” says Deborah, “and now today we have a total of about 1300 chickens all of which live comfortably and free to roam in a sustainable and practical ‘chicken hotel’ environment.”
At Highspire Hills Farm, there are organically-fed and conventionally-fed chickens. One year ago, Duane and Deborah formed a partnership with Kimberton Whole Foods to raise non-GMO chickens, which are fed with non-GMO and organic feed, and now have a total of 250 organic birds! As well as eating organic or conventional feed, all of the chickens at Highspire Hills eat the produce compost from KWF at Downingtown, and according to Deborah, “the chickens absolutely love the produce!”
With producing 45 dozen eggs a day and having a turnaround less than 7 days, Highspire Hills Farm delivers their eggs to specialty restaurants in the area, including Victory Brewing Company, Ron’s Original, Dilworthtown Inn and its Blue Pear Bistro, and of course Kimberton Whole Foods. It even has its own farm store for family, friends, neighbors and anyone who would like to purchase the best eggs in town. So the next time you are in the Downingtown area, stop by Highspire Hills Farm in Glenmoore, Pennsylvania to try the biggest and best naturally-produced brown eggs in the area!
