With eighteen years of experience, eleven acres of land, and about 350 chickens, Meg and her husband, Joel, owners of Meg’s Eggs free-range farm, thoroughly enjoy raising chickens and producing the “happiest” fresh eggs for the Ottsville community every day.
At Meg’s Eggs, there are a total of about 350 birds with 24 separate breeds and six color variations, as well as endangered chickens and foster peeps. Not only is this the place for chickens to roam free with fresh water, shade and protection provided naturally, it is also a miniature haven for other animals, including ducks, geese, deer, guinea birds and the owners’ cat, Garfield, who all get along with one another.
“It is the place to be,” says Meg. “All of the animals are friendly and happy because they are in their natural environment. Their diet includes natural grains, fruit and veggie scraps, and oyster shells. The chickens live life eating whatever they want and do whatever they want, and they certainly have distinct personalities to show it.” Every day at Meg’s Eggs is a humorous adventure, and a great way to learn and interact with the free-range happy chickens up close and personal.
Meg’s Eggs are distributed to the neighbors and Kimberton Whole Foods in Ottsville, Pennsylvania within 24 hours. The next time you are in the Ottsville area, stop by Meg’s Eggs farm to visit the friendliest chickens and Kimberton Whole Foods to receive the freshest and “happiest” eggs on the market!
