Meet this month’s Rounding Up recipient, Shamrock Reins.
Shamrock Reins provides equine assisted activities and therapies for veterans, active duty, and reserve service members, first responders, their families, and the families of fallen heroes. With the help of special horses, they foster positive life-changing experiences for participants. The horses assist with recovery by offering comfort and kindness in a safe environment. Shamrock Reins offers these services at no cost to participants. One of Shamrock Reinsโ program goals is the prevention of veteran suicides and to assist participants with their service-related injuries such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injuries, military trauma, flashbacks, and many more. By interacting with horses, veterans and military service members can form a unique relationship that will assist them with the physical and emotional challenges they face on a daily basis. Many veterans who have participated in equine activities have stated the horses saved their lives.
