Calendula Kimberton Whole Foods

Homeopathic medicines use natural substances in micro-doses to relieve common everyday symptoms. They do not cause drowsiness, do not interact with conventional medications, supplements or herbal remedies, and do not mask symptoms. Homeopathy has been used for more than 200 years, building a remarkable safety record and generating a great body of knowledge. Check out some of our favorite medicinal plants for summer healing.

Arnica

Arnica is a type of mountain daisy that bears yellow flowers. It is widely used to relieve common aches and pains, including bruising, swelling, and arthritis. It can also be used to temporarily relieve muscle pain and stiffness due to minor injuries, overexertion, and falls, and can help reduce discoloration from bruises.*

We recommend:

Arnicare Cream
  • Contains Arnica montana
  • 1X HPUS-7%
Arnicare Gel
  • Contains Arnica montana
  • 1X HPUS-7%

Ever wonder what the dosing information means on the labels of homeopathic medicines? The letters HPUS indicate that this ingredient is officially included in the Homeopathic Pharmacopœia of the United States. Most homeopathic medicine is prepared in this way: Soluble substances are dissolved in alcohol to form a “mother tincture.” One part of this tincture is added to 99 parts of alcohol and succussed (shaken). This yields a 1C dilution; read the label on homeopathic medicine to see the dilution of a given substance.

Additionally, the percentage of each active ingredient in topical formulas like creams, gels, ointments, or eye drops must be clearly indicated. For example, Arnica montana 1X HPUS: 7% means that there is 7 percent of tincture (1X) of arnica in Arnicare Gel. Unless otherwise indicated, all ingredients in oral pellets or tablets are present in the same proportion, for a total of 1 percent of the inactive ingredient weight.
