DIY Lemon Eucalyptus Bug Repellent

It’s the time of year when we need to begin considering protecting ourselves from the elements, especially pestering insects. The Center for Disease control has listed Lemon Eucalyptus has an effective active ingredient for long-lasting protection against mosquitoes. Essential oils are powerful bug deterrents when diluted and applied correctly. Here’s an easy recipe with safe, natural ingredients and free of harmful chemicals.

Bug Spray Ingredients

Aura Cacia Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Thayers Witch Hazel
Distilled or boiled Water
Aura Cacia Vegetable glycerin (optional)
4 oz. Glass Spray Bottle

Instructions

Fill a spray bottle 1/2 full with distilled or boiled water
Add witch hazel to fill almost to the top
Add 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin
Add 30 drops of essential oil, or to desired scent

Shake well just before applying. Apply to clothes and exposed skin, being careful not to spray in eyes.

Mosquitos – citronella, lemon eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon, eucalyptus, catnip, basil, clove, thyme, lemongrass, geranium, lavender
Fleas – cedarwood, citronella, eucalyptus, tea tree oil, lemongrass, lavender, orange, pine,
Ticks – rose geranium, juniper, rosewood, thyme, grapefruit, oregano

*Lemon Eucalyptus is not recommended for children under 3 years old
