DIY Tick Repellents

As you enjoy the great outdoors this summer, don’t forget to protect yourself against bug bites and ticks! Our friends at Wyndmere Naturals have provided us with three easy-to-prepare, effective tick repellent recipes that you can make at home, using pure essential oils. Simply mix the ingredients and store in a spray bottle or covered container. To use: Spray clothing, shoes, tents, or apply to skin*.

Tick Repellent Kimberton Whole Foods

Blend #1

  • 1 oz water, carrier oil, Witch Hazel, or lotion
  • 7 drops Geranium
  • 4 drops Peppermint
  • 4 drops Thyme
  • 4 drops Cedarwood or Lavender

Blend #2

  • 1 oz water, carrier oil, Witch Hazel, or lotion
  • 10 drops Geranium
  • 4 drops Eucalyptus
  • 4 drops Lavender
  • 4 drops Lemongrass

Blend #3

  • 1 oz water, carrier oil, Witch Hazel, or lotion
  • 8 drops Geranium
  • 6 drops Lemon Eucalyptus
  • 4 drops Lemongrass
  • 4 drops Cedarwood or Lavender

*Always use caution when applying essential oils directly to skin. Reduce to half-strength for children and the elderly. Use caution when applying near pets.
