One Village Coffee, Souderton, PA – 30 Miles

One Village Coffee has been crafting quality blends since 2007. It all began when the Hackman family first visited Africa and Honduras, and saw the power of a community of people working together for a common goal, to better their lives and the lives of those around them. They were inspired by the strength and potential of a village, and promptly set out to create their own. Through their commitment to responsible stewardship and, of course, a love of coffee, the company works to connect growers, roasters, and consumers.

One Village Coffee offers single origin coffees, as well as perfectly balanced blends. Their team pays the highest attention to detail when it comes to creating the desired flavor profile in each bag of beans. To do so, they carefully craft and roast coffee to order in small batches, and always test for consistency and quality of their beans.

The One Village Coffee roastery is Fair Trade and Certified Organic. The company goes beyond Fair Trade standards and regularly participates in fundraising efforts to better their village. For instance, in the past they have donated $1 per bag of Artist Blend coffee sold to build bee colonies in the COMSA co-op in Honduras. Theyโ€™ve also partnered with the co-op in support of a school. Here in the United States, they also give back: Theyโ€™ve been donating coffee for the past 12 years through a homeless organization called Chosen 300, which has locations in Philadelphia and Pottstown. They presently donate enough coffee yearly for over 150,000 meals served.

One Village Coffee is one of the founding B Corporation certified companies in the country – in fact, they are one of the first 50 members to ever be certified, and were the first coffee roaster to achieve this status. As they describe on the B Corporation website, โ€œB Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.โ€ Or, to put it simply, they use the power of their business to support social and environmental health.

Even their coffee bags can be composted. โ€œFor us, choosing a compostable bag was one way of being stewards of our earth and for future generations of coffee drinkers.โ€

Always at the forefront of their mission and actions is the idea of a supportive and strong village, working for the greater good. One Village Coffee founder, Steve Hackman says, โ€œWithout our community (the growers, us and you), it wouldn’t exist. We have a commonality of coffee and a passion to care for ourselves, our families and the world.โ€ The team at One Village Coffee cares deeply about the people involved throughout the entire coffee process, from seed to cup.
