Turkey Basics

How are the turkeys raised?

We are offering turkeys from Koch’s Turkey Farm.

Koch’s turkeys are Certified Humane® and raised according to The Global Animal Partnership guidelines.

What is the difference between the “Natural” and “Organic” turkeys?

Koch’s Organic Turkeys are raised on 100% organic feed. All of the turkeys we offer never receive antibiotics, hormones, or animal by-products as part of their diets.

Are the turkeys cooked or raw?

The turkeys are raw.

Are the turkeys previously frozen?

The turkeys are fresh, never frozen.

How much turkey do I need?

The rule of thumb for buying turkey is 1 pound per person. This will allow for a generous amount of turkey plus some leftovers – if you really want to continue to enjoy your turkey in sandwiches and salads for a few days after the holiday, allow 1.5 pounds per person.

Turkey Roasting Guide

  • Remove your fresh turkey out of refrigeration; bring to room temperature no longer than 1 hour.
  • Season your turkey with salt and pepper, dried herbs, or use a butter rub under the skin.
  • You may choose to roast your turkey at a lower temp for longer time or higher temp for shorter time.
  • Using an internal thermometer is the safest way to determine if your turkey is done.
  • According to the USDA a turkey must be cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • In a 325 degree F oven, plan on about 15 minutes per pound for an un-stuffed bird. For stuffed turkeys, add another 15 minutes to the total cook time.
  • After removing from the oven, allow your turkey to rest at least 20 minutes before carving.

Pre-orders are closed and I need to modify my order.

Once pre-orders close on 11/16, your order has been sent off to our kitchen so that they can begin preparing your Thanksgiving meal. You won’t be able to make adjustments using the link in your confirmation email any longer, so please call your local store and speak with a team member. Pre-orders close at 10pm on Thursday, November 16th.

I didn’t receive a confirmation email. Did my order go through?

First, check your junk mail and ‘promotions’ folder for an email from Kimberton Whole Foods. If you still can’t locate the email give your local store a call and they will be happy to help confirm your order.

Can I pick up my order curbside?

Yes, we have two options.

Online shopping customers may pick up their Thanksgiving pre-order along with their curbside grocery pickup by including a note in the Order Instructions field when checking out online. This will inform us that you are planning to pick them up together. Be as specific as possible about your Thanksgiving order and mention the name it was placed under.

Just picking up your Thanksgiving turkey, sides, and pies and want to get them curbside? No problem! Give us a call before you arrive at your local Kimberton Whole Foods, and we’ll instruct you on where to pull up and wait for your order. Credit card payments only.
