An elegant and rustic appetizer to share with your family and friends this holiday season.
What you’ll need:
One 8oz Round of Brie
6 Sheets Fillo Factory Organic Fillo Dough
2 Tablespoons Unsalted Organic Butter
1 Crisp Organic Apple
1/4 cup Organic Raw Sugar
1/8 cup Organic Fresh Cranberries
Dash of Nutmeg
Dash of Himalayan Pink Salt
Peel and slice apple into thin wedges. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in wide pan over medium heat. Lay the apple slices on the buttered pan and sprinkle with the sugar, salt, and nutmeg. Cook in the pan until sugar is melted and apples are softened. Handling gently, remove from the heat and sprinkle cranberries over top. Let cool to room temperature.
Unwrap round of brie. With a sharp knife, cut fillo dough into rounds or squares 3 inches wider in diameter than the brie. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Gently layer the fillo sheets on the parchment. Place brie in the center. Arrange apples on top of the brie and pull fillo around brie and over the apple. The round can be covered completely, or left open for a more rustic presentation. Lightly brush the remaining tablespoon of melted butter over the wrapped brie and bake at 325° for 10-15 minutes, or until fillo is golden brown. Serve warm with bread or crackers.
