Spring Fruit Salad Recipe

This week Colin & Pat Brett came together in the kitchen to create a refreshing fruit salad- the perfect accompaniment for your upcoming Memorial Day celebration.  This spring salad incorporates fair trade organic bananas(on sale for 69¢/lb through Memorial Day), Gala apples(on sale for $1.99/lb through Memorial Day), and red seedless grapes.

Recipe yields 4-6 servings.IMG_4769

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 1 Gala apple, chopped
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes, cut in half
  • 1 6 oz. package blueberries
  • several sprigs of basil

DRESSING

  • 2 oranges
  • 1 tsp. honey

PREPARATION

Begin by chopping the apple, slicing the bananas, and cutting the grapes in half.  Toss prepped fruit into a bowl with blueberries.  Squeeze oranges over salad and drizzle with honey, then stir thoroughly.  (We also recommend chopping the oranges after squeezing them, and adding them to the bowl.) Your fruit salad can be served immediately, but for best results, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to blend.)
